A Menton Christmas - a Little TOO Perfect?

Is it the European Union's fault? All fruit must be of a specific size - and of course tasting of absolutely nothing?

Well no, as you have doubtless realised, these are all CANDLES...for sale in a shop in the pedestrian street of Menton.

  2. This reminded me of the Kroger marketplace food display that I posted some months ago. In fact I thought that was what it was.

  5. What great candles! I want one of each. I don't think I'd have the heart to burn them though!

  6. Marzipan fruit always amazed me. The bakers who make it are truly artists. (now you'll tell me it's made in factories in China)

Do folks actually eat it? I don't care for it myself.

  7. Wayne - these are candles - not marzipan fruit. Wouldn't taste too good!

  8. Oh, I should pay more attention. I didn't know there was a difference. I'm a lot more interested in them now.

  9. First, I thought they were made of almond paste! I'd never be able to light them up...

  16. Why have I never seen novelty candles as good as this elsewhere? The groseilles are particularly original! I must keep my eyes open.

  17. Beautiful. I too thought they were marzipan at first. I have decided that no matter how pretty a candle is, I light it. That's what they're for. Same with marzipan, except I don't light it; I eat it!
