one of the most beautiful towns on the French Riviera
Villages near to Menton: Gorbio
This is so lovely I just groaned when I opened it. The grey , the door, and then the pop of green with the plants in the perfect gray pots. Oh my.
I'm with Virginia, it's perfect. You could not have posed this sot any better and how I would love to be there right now.
I groaned, too! Well, "gasped" is more like it :-) How perfectly charming. The door and steps sort of "carved" directly into the stone building - it's fabulous. Even the unevenness of the ledges where the little topiary trees sit - I'm so glad no one tried to make them level - much more interesting and organic this way. Great shot!
Great shot! Are these plants lantanas?
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this religious hand probably was kissed numerous times by its entering guests (probably on the ring finger) because of the religious / spiritual connotations. For example, it was quite customary years ago to kiss a bishop's hand out of respect. I don't know if the custom still holds in certain places like Menton. Here in the Midwest, it's more a throw-back to the past. I do love this photo. It has a lot going for it.
Gee, everybody has expressed exactly my feelings---would love to be there.
The Hand Knocker is not common in our area (Florida). We have one and now that you have shown me yours I will show you ours in the morning.
This is a charming entrance and you have shown again your attraction to detail. Wonderful photo!
I love this shot.
I think the knocker is the hand of Fatima.
Great shot. I love the simplicity and calm of it.
