Créole at Place du Cap

These shots were taken at the end of February during the Fête du Citron, but the Créole dancers weren't part of the official parade. This year the Ville de Menton arranged for all sorts of entertainment to take place at different times of the day and in different parts of the town. A great idea.

I was out shopping when I suddenly came upon this sea of Créole colour, music and dance. You never know what you will bump into in Menton.

Tomorrow - more Créole.

  7. I really do not know how you so often manage to be where the beautiful photo opportunities are! AMAZING colors and action in these creole photos. I have begun carrying my camera when I go to town but I seem to only photograph people's backs! :-) Maybe an inspiration for a painting? hmmmmmmm!

  9. You have surpassed the color of the wisteria series with colorful ladies. I agree with Sharon. Your photos capture the movement and music as well.

  10. Beautiful, beautiful shots, Jilly. The colors and prints from their costumes and their joy in performing just pop from your page. This performance troop must have been thrilled to be invited to Menton. It sounds like having several performance venues around town multiplied the Fete du Citron's fun.
Okay, back to fabric ogling. This is a treasure trove for a fabriholic like me. Keep 'em coming!
