one of the most beautiful towns on the French Riviera
The end of a tiny alleyway. Nesting boxes for pigeons. You can see in the smaller photograph that someone has hung aluminium foil from the lamp - probably an attempt to deter the pigeons. It didn't work...
The Old Town
Such a delightful photo. I love the texture, the age of the wall & ofcourse the visitor too. Maybe the foil stopped "deposits" being left at the bottom of the lamp.
I'm sure it's hard to resist such ideal accommodations with that handy visitor's perch.
Interesting to see the origin, perhaps, of the word. It does certainly look like the proverbial Pigeon-hole!
Now I don't like to pigeon hole anyone but this bird is very obliging.
Yet again, another most most satisfying image. You have a very good eye for spotting the mundane that becomes magical up close. I will email you when I get to my office this morning about the keyhole.
il y aussi des studios pour pigeons dans Menton ;o).
Its better that they have somewhere to roost other than windowsills and doorways, then making a mess all over them.
Oh very interesting to see the smart birds making use of the holes as their homes. Of course the house owner is not happy, they dont want unnecessary mess on them when they open the door.
Some people don't like pigeons. I don't mind them when they're photogenic like this...and if they stay off MY porch! Great shot.
awww I love the pigeon photo so much!
I like pigeons but I don't like their "déjections". Your photo is lovely.
I'm glad the foil didn't foil the birds.
Nice photo Jilly. You find such interesting things among everyday life.
I love this photo. Texture, interest and great composition. It's one of my all time favourites.
Now I have a perfect image to keep in mind for the saying 'pigeon-hole'. Charming photo.
Love the first photo. Yes, we have pigeon problems here too. Most buildings put up spiky surfaces so the birds can't roost on them.
So funny! I imagine that now they're renovating buildings in the Old City, pigeons will no more allowed to enter.
Hmmm, I'm ambivalent about pigeons. They can cause problems, but then there's somethign irresistable about them. I think when they push native birds out that's the biggest habitat problem.
