Not everyone wore a buttonhole so presumably this gentleman is a family member.

I feel as if I've come to know them. I begin to recognize certain guests from one photograph to the next. I'll miss them. Perhaps next year they'll gather to celebrate the birth of a baby?

Oh, Virginia beat me to it; I even looked up the correct spelling. Interesting that it's called a buttonhole.
I used the English word - buttonhole. In French it is, as Virginia wrote, - boutonnière. Interesting that the word got to America but not to the UK!
For the record I had to look it up too! HA
