Le Balico - Flan de Poisson
This is one of the first courses served at Le Balico, my favourite restaurant in Menton. It's called Flan de Poissons which is confusing for an English speaking person as we think of 'flan' as a sort of pastry tart. Here it means a mousse or cream. The dictionary translates flan - amongst other things - as a mould, and perhaps that's the point - this fish mousse is made in a round mould. None of which matters in the slightest, because I can tell you it's delicious and even better with a glass of white wine.
Note: Since posting this, sadly Le Balico has been sold and is now under new management.

excellent photo and looks delicious. I really like your Out of Wind photo. The black and white works perfect for some of your photos. In answer to your question, the native american dancers at the hoop contest are amazing and their costumes are likely available . . . They really have bling to them. I am going to post some more photos of the native american dance contest next week and I am going to include a clip of a native fashion designer who has some wowie fashions and models that I think people will enjoy.

Chuckeroon, the answer will disappoint you I'm sure, but when I got to Le Balico, I eat off the 20 euro set menu and I drink the house white or red, both of which are a Provence wine from the Grimaud area near to St. Tropez. It's very drinkable.
Yum and slurp. I enjoyed a similar 'flan de poisson' in Nice once, wrapped in a squash blossom...still can taste it. Ah, la France.
