We're on a restored part of the old donkey track going from Menton to the medieval village of Roquebrune.
At the foot of the wall, a tree survives. In the smaller photo, you see branches have penetrated the wall at the top too. Thanks to Philippe for telling me this is an ivy.
It's good to see nature winning the battle.

Philippe, thanks so much for the information. I suspected ivy or wisteria and do see it's more like ivy. So ivy it is. Also my mother's name!
Tenacious is a word that comes to mind, along with beautiful, green leaves or not.
Ancient is the word that this suggests to me. The old bones of botany. Beautiful shots.
Love the wall, love the tree.
Wish there were still donkeys.
Nothing can stop ivy .......or kudzu! I might have to feature some kudzu for my readers soon.
