Theme Day: Empty

Moules! Empty mussel shells at Restaurant le Balico in Menton. They were so good!

The shells appear to be black until you take a flash photo and then you see the beautiful blues and pearl colours on the interior of the shells.

Note: Since posting the above, sadly Le Balico has been sold and is now under new management.

Today is once again Theme Day in the City Daily Photo community. To see how bloggers from all over the world have interpreted today's Theme, please click here to view thumbnails.

The colours are stunning, very inky. A good choice for Theme Day and lunch or dinner!

this "empty" would leave me with a sense of satisfaction (from a great mea1) and sadness that they were all gone.

I love the scattering of detritus, Jilly. And the higgeldy-piggeldyness of the arrangement.

I can almost smell the salt from here ...

Wow...that must be so delicious.

Btw, very nice theme day pic.

Jilly, I know you didn't make the effort just for the theme of the month....

Yum, We have relatively larger green lip mussel as NZ delicacy.

You had to take one for the team to get the shot huh? Good idea.

Next time I eat mussels I will have to look for the shades of color on the inside.

The variety of interpretations of the empty theme is amazing. You have chosen two very different photos, as did Julie and I on our two Daily Photo sites.

Ah! Even with all the rain we've had here, you set me thinking with this shot. I have a delicious recipe for mussels with wine sauce. I'm breaking it out tonight! LOVE mussels!

Lovely interpretation and lovely photo. I can feel the satisfaction of that meal just looking at the picture.

I think it has been very interesting how varied the responses to the empty theme have been. It is a wide open topic that people have taken to in very interesting ways.

Yes, moules are the best! Just a lovely composition and color here JIlly. My, you have to come up with TWO theme day posts. Both were wonderful. Now I"m wondering if I'll be lucky enough to be in Paris at the end of the TDF!!! I'm off to the internet to see. How could I be that lucky!!!
