Bird's Eye View

This is a shot of Gorbio village I've never taken before. We are way above the village on Gerard's land, where he keeps his beautiful horses (see the posts for 30th and 31st July).

When I moved to Gorbio around 11 years ago there were around 1000 people inhabitants in the village and commune. Now there are 1,500 with a thriving village school. It's so good to see a medieval village prosper like this, rather than diminish, as they often do. This year an enormous number of twins have been born in the village - I forget the number - must be something in the village water.

  1. These are two beautiful shots. It looks like an extraordinary place. I wonder if you can see your house from this vantage point.

  2. Sharon, you can't see it in this photo. I live two and a half kilometres below the village, If you look at the large house on the extreme right of this group of village houses - well I live below that - but out of shot in this photo, of course.

  9. Wow, it is a beautiful setting. Is the area prone to earthquakes? I would be afraid of them if I lived there.

  10. Oh, I don't think I'd ever be afraid there. It looks enchanted and enchanting. What a setting to wake to each morning and to close your eyes on each night!
