Shrek: Ogres are like onions.

Donkey: They stink?

Shrek: Yes. No.

Donkey: Oh, they make you cry.

Shrek: No.

Donkey: Oh, you leave em out in the sun, they get all brown, start sproutin' little white hairs.

Shrek: NO. Layers. Onions have layers. Ogres have layers. Onions have layers. You get it? We both have layers. (sighs)

Donkey: Oh, you both have layers. Oh. You know, not everybody like onions.

  4. Very nice close-up Jilly!
3 euros a kilo, that's not cheap but the colours (and layers) are beautifully rendered.

(I wonder what contrasts you've got coming up for us?)

  5. Oh, that's a clever conversation. I will have to rewatch Shrek...loved the film.

And your photo is great! I have a photo I took in Seattle of peels, old vegetables, etc. that were left after a market closed...Reminds me of this!

  6. Haha. I expected chickens when I saw your title. This is a beautiful homage to onions (and to ogres).

  7. That's a nice piece from Shrek! Although I love onions! It's a part of our daily diet! Being vegetarians, we eat a vegetable with daal rice and chapatis accompanied by tomato, onion and cucumber salad!

  10. Sometimes I marvel that man persevered with the onion. But well prepared it's good!
