Wisteria in Place aux Herbes


The last day of this short 'wisteria in Menton' series. We're in Place aux Herbes looking at the signs above this charming little bar.

  2. Ah si ma glycine pouvait être aussi belle sur mon balcon parisien ! Elle a de superbes feuilles mais l'air du Sud doit lui manquer pour les fleurs.

  9. Beautiful wisteria against a wall color : "rosé de Provence". Nice find, I must have passed behind many times without noticing it.

  10. There's just something about wisteria...re plumbago - hard to believe something as hardy as plumbago would cark it in your climate. My plumbago had gone so feral (a "once you get it in, you can never get it out" plant) , blocking the pathway at front and side, that I just gave it a dramatic prune - not just a "boy prune" but a "grandfather one". Hopefully by next summer/autumn it will be back to being a well-contained display. Ha!

    I'd love a wisteria but I have my suspicions you need to be further inland/higher up - they do really well in the Blue Mountains. Think there's a bit much humidity in Sydney. My pergola grape vines are failing and need to be replaced....I need something in full leaf in summer because they shade the westerly side. Better do some research - and it better just be a leave it alone survivor! I've had success with passionfruit in the past, but they only last a couple of seasons before needing replacement in Sydney - some genetic failing I understand.
