The Basse Corniche

This is part of the Basse Corniche - the lower road - between Monaco and Menton. We are in part of Roquebrune-cap-Martin, waiting at temporary traffic lights, which is allowing the oncoming traffic to advance. These have been put in place for road works that have have been going on for months and months. The area of work changes, but the hold ups don't. As we wait at the lights, motorbikes filter between the oncoming traffic and our line of vehicles.

The motorbikes reach their destination long before we do.

If you want to see 'real' motorbikes, go visit Ramsey Daily Photo for the Isle of Man TT.

  1. I remember that spot - the motorbikes take a few risks, so I wonder if all of them reach their destinations before you!

  2. Sometimes you do wish you are on the bikes so that you can reach your destination faster ya? :-)

  3. Yes, sometimes I'd like a motorbike, but with traffic as it is here, it's not the safest choice. Still.....

  4. I've obviously got a one track mind at the moment. The bikes jumped straight out at me. It is beginning to resemble this scene here. I blushed at the link. Must be a first for me.

  5. Do you suppose that last biker in the row has a pizza inside his black carry-box?

  6. From the portal that storage box looked like the bikers butt. Good thing for the bike its not.

  7. With the automobile industry in the US in so much trouble I wonder if motorbikes and scooters will become more plentiful. Altho I doubt it; Americans sure do like their cars...thank you Henry Ford!

I was here earlier today, saw the link to Ramseys and went there and forgot to leave a comment here.

I am with Kate on this. I think there is something to be said for the motorbikes and bicycles. We are such a large country and have so many millions of miles of highway but the distances are so great it makes most human powered transportation out of reach or reason.

I managed to get a new blog started a few days ago. It is only about flowers.

  9. This probably can become a bit frustrating at times, and I suppose one might be more inclined to take up motorbiking in these conditions...

  11. Traffic can be so frustrating. I'd be hesitant to ride a motorbike though -- so close to the pavement!

  12. You see why I bought my little electric motor bike? You arrive quickly and you can park anywhere!

  13. Ah-ha! The perennial favourite - a "stuck in traffic" shot! Hope you got there eventually. :-)
