Theme Day: Contrast at the Procession Votive

It's Theme Day once again and the subject is 'Contrast.' Here we have the contrast of a medieval man and his modern daughter and of course, the contrasts in the photo itself - taken at the Procession Votive in Roquebrune Village. Papa played a scribe.

Great take on the theme - a really striking picture.
Great shot for the theme. I like it in b&w.
This great portrait is a wonderful choice!
Jilly, this is stunning. It has a great deal of drama and a hint of mystery.
To have said the contrast between the old and the new would not have been nice!! ;~)))
wow..what a great photo!:)
Nice one, Jilly. Hair contrast, too! ;)
3 generations if you add the older man in the background, what a great contrast Jilly!
Beautiful porttrait, perfect choice.
beau portrait b&w, j'aime beaucoup
This is an excellent interpretation. Beautiful portrait.
excellent capture!
Really a great portrait !
very nice jilly
Beautiful shot - their expressions are so intriguing. And I love the man in the background reading his newspaper. ;-)
I agree with Nathalie. You have a double contrast going on here when you include him in the analysis of the photograph.
Beautiful portrait!
well done!
The little girl is so precious. Love this series!
Happy theme day :)
This is very nice, very touchy.
Happy Theme Day!
My Bangkok Through My Eyes!
You got a Posty: I want to give 15 postcards :)
I really like this one! He almost looks like a statue. In the thumbnails I was wondering how a statue was holding a live person. :)
Very good choice!
great shot for this theme day
Love this shot. Great comtrast for theme day.
Wonderful contrast in the light and also a contrasty b+w! Nicely captured.
The costume is really simplicity in itself. The little girl looks bewildered.
The faces in B&W and the diagonal on the wall made a superb composition full of warm affection! Jilly, thanks a lot for your most kind words, I really appreciate them.
What a great choice! Very creative.
Medieval-modern--large-small--perfect for a contrasting theme. MB
very profound and creative the little girl has quite the look.
Lots of contrast there. Love the b&w to go with the picture. Excellent.
Wow, that is a beautiful photo and an excellent realisation of the theme!
Great observation of the modern/historic contrast.Good choice for the theme!
I enjoyed the photo above too.
Thanks for your visit:)
Classic and beautiful! I love it in black and white.
Oh my, another fabulous "Jilly Portrait" . This one is just the best. I loved the entire procession and getting to meet the participants up close has been so special. Contrast indeed. I hope this father gets a copy of this photograph.

I forgot to add that the light is gorgeous. Ordinarily this bright light wouldn't work but here it is just right! I like the space you left beside her too. Great composition.

Found this wonderful photograph by accident. What a beautiful little girl. Love the black and white composition. Going to Menton in September, the town looks so atmospheric.
