Theme Day: Contrast at the Procession Votive

It's Theme Day once again and the subject is 'Contrast.' Here we have the contrast of a medieval man and his modern daughter and of course, the contrasts in the photo itself - taken at the Procession Votive in Roquebrune Village. Papa played a scribe.

Jilly, this is stunning. It has a great deal of drama and a hint of mystery.

Beautiful shot - their expressions are so intriguing. And I love the man in the background reading his newspaper. ;-)

I agree with Nathalie. You have a double contrast going on here when you include him in the analysis of the photograph.

I really like this one! He almost looks like a statue. In the thumbnails I was wondering how a statue was holding a live person. :)

Very good choice!

The costume is really simplicity in itself. The little girl looks bewildered.

The faces in B&W and the diagonal on the wall made a superb composition full of warm affection! Jilly, thanks a lot for your most kind words, I really appreciate them.

Oh my, another fabulous "Jilly Portrait" . This one is just the best. I loved the entire procession and getting to meet the participants up close has been so special. Contrast indeed. I hope this father gets a copy of this photograph.

I forgot to add that the light is gorgeous. Ordinarily this bright light wouldn't work but here it is just right! I like the space you left beside her too. Great composition.

Found this wonderful photograph by accident. What a beautiful little girl. Love the black and white composition. Going to Menton in September, the town looks so atmospheric.
