Le Mirazur - A Meal by 4 Hands

Le Mirazur restaurant is Menton's famous two-star Michelin restaurant with its brilliant young Argentinian chef, Mauro Colagreco.  In 2009, Le Mirazur was listed as the 35th best restaurant in the world by San Pellegrino classment, no small feat in the world of top gastronomy.

So imagine my delight when I was invited to take photographs recently.   There was to be a special evening:  'A meal by 4 Hands' - Just for your eyes ... and your taste buds.'  It was a collaboration between Chef Mauro and Chef Hans Välimäki from Chez Dominique (three-star Michelin) in Helsinki, Finland.

A mutual friend (thankyou Sigi!) told me that Chef Mauro wanted some ambiance photos to be taken in the kitchens during the evening.  Right up my street. You know how I love taking 'people' photos. Well I can't begin to tell you what a fabulous time I had and how amazing it all was. It was such a privilege to be present in a top-class kitchen and to experience and photograph the pure theatre of a restaurant such as this.

So today, meet Chef Mauro (right) and Chef Hans (left) and do take a look at their websites.  Look at the beautiful Mirazur restaurant with its divine view over the bay to the Old Town of Menton -  and of course the food -  and dream.

More tomorrow.

It was a nice surprise to see Hans Välimäki in your pictures! Of course I don't know him personally, but he has a TV show running in finnish TV at the moment, visiting the Finns all over the world.

  5. Jilly, I'm not so surprised that you got this photo shoot opportunity. Your "people" photos are always a delight and this series is no exception. You mentioned working hard at trying to be as inobtrusive as possible but it didn't stop you from always being in the right spot at the right time. I love the attitudes and facial expressions that you caught.
