L'autoroute

Look at the hillside and you can see a section of the A8 autoroute that runs along the French Riviera and into Italy. Some is hidden in the many tunnels that go through the Alpes. An amazing feat of engineering or a blot on the landscape? This photograph was taken from the Port de Garavan which almost adjoins the Italian border.

Wonderful look at your place. I like that elevated roadway and the beauty of the buildings perched on the hill is nice to see. Nice photo.

If you visited my blog yesterday and left a comment about our 52nd wedding anniversary, I wanted to say, "Thanks."

  2. I think the Autoroute bridge here adds to the landscape and shows the steepness of the hill (mountain?)

You've pointed out a huge debate here as well -- engineering and "progress" or natural beauty. Either way, love your photograph.

  6. I like how you captured this shot. It seems almost that the photo is in layers, the river boats, the town and the bridge. Seems to capture it all.

  7. Think of all the traffic that would be going through the villages if it weren't for the autoroute. I quite like this architectural and engineering feat!
